WHERE THE HELL YOU BEEN, KIM?

OH HI GUYS, REMEMBER ME?

I've been off diligently studying bugs like a good entomology grad student should... while simultaneously totally neglecting my blog! Whoopsie! But I'm back, and happy to say that I have successfully reached a milestone in my life by completing my Master's degree!

HELL YEAH, TIME TO GET WEIRD.

...Well, maybe not that weird.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to blogging more, and maybe even doing more makeup looks in the near future. So stick around, I'm still alive and kickin'! ^-^/

Pink and Red FOTD~

Yaaaay, I actually did a look today! This one is pink and red themed, and also Valentines Day appropriate! I did this challenge for NTMS, because I haven't attempted one in quite a while. It's time I pick up the slack.

Sorry for the sorta shit-tier lighting... I didn't get a chance to take photos of it until it was already dark. So yeah, bathroom shots it is! My blush didn't show at all... darn it.

Stuff I used to achieve this look:

EYES

- Concrete Mineral's Electric Eye Primer to prime eyes
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk applied lightly as a base
- Fyrinnae's Nijiro (shimmery pale nude) applied in inner corner
- Concrete Mineral's Brat (bright pink) applied wet in the middle
- Fyrinnae's Kamekaze (shimmery red) applied wet to inner corner, and drawn out into a cat eye using an angled liner brush
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk applied on top and tapered at the end into a second wing using an angled brush
- Fyrinnae's Marshmellow Puffs (matte white) patted on top to set the cream base
- Physician's Formula Lash Boosting Eyeliner in Ultra Black to line the upper eyelid and part of the lower eyelid
- Maybelline Great Lash mascara in Blackest Black

LIPS

- Benefit Ultra Shines lipgloss in Foxy Lady

FACE

L.A. Girls Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Creamy Beige on the under-eye area
- Skin 79 Super+ BB Cream (pink container) mixed with Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 130 Buff Beige
- Smashbox Dolce Vita, E.L.F. Pink Passion and  Hard Candy Living Doll blushes layered heavily from the cheekbone to hairline

I'm gunna exercise and sweat all this stuff off now!

Two NOTD's featuring D & R Apothecary Hit Polish!

Hey again guys, long time no see! I've been on sort of a makeup slump these days, so for now I have another small batch of NOTD's to show off. This time, I though I'd share two manis featuring D & R Apothecary's Hit Polish on Etsy. They make a ton of amazing glittery topcoat polishes, and if you check out their Facebook page, there's some amazing new collections about to be released!

A England's Lady of the Lake and Hit Polish Funhouse.

I just loved this combination! I wish I could get a better photo of the holographic shimmer in Lady of the Lake. Funhouse really pops against the deep purple base and kinda reminds me of multicolored paint splatters across my nails.

Zoya Faye and Hit Polish Enchanted

And this is my current NOTD. Faye is an unusual color in my polish collection. It wants to be pink or purple sometimes, but in different lighting the coppery-rose flecks really shine through! Enchanted has complimentary copper and rose glitter and soft blue glitter all in different sizes to contrast. Some are also holographic! The photo doesn't really do this combo justice, it's insanely shimmery!

Anyway, I have quite a few Hit Polishes in my collection, and there's so many more I'm lemming it's getting sort of ridiculous. They're definitely one of my favorite indie polish brands, and they have sales quite frequently.

Have you tried their polishes? What are YOUR favorites?

The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Petit I Cheek Stick in Coral PongPong

A much overdue review! I have to admit, I'm not very partial to cream blushers, but this one from The Face Shop is just adorable. I got it for the cuteness factor, but I'm also very pleased with the product itself!

Am I a sucker for cute Korean packaging? You bet'cha!

Oddly enough, this is actually all the product you get after twisting it to the very top.

Fortunately, this cream blush has lovely pigmentation and the coral color blends very naturally to my skin. This is a pretty saturated swatch to show the coral-ness of the shade. When it's blended out you can see that it's slightly shimmery as well!

Not another indie mani dump!

Dear god help me, I've fallen down the indie polish hole and I can't stop buying. And I am SO, SO SORRY you guys have to see my nails in all their terrible glory. Seriously, I can never be a nail blogger. My nails are crap. But when I put on polish, I like to think they're actually kinda-sorta pretty, even for just a day before they chip away to oblivion during the rest of the week.

Welcome to round 2 of my glittery nail polish and mani palooza!

I did this mani a week or two ago using Orly Bon Bon (3 coats), Rainbow Polish Taffy and Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor (which I abuse far too much). It makes for some sweet pastel-y goodness!

I personally think that Orly Bon Bon is underappreciated. It's this wonderfully sheer, pastel purple color that really livens up my nails in a natural, understated way. Slap a little glitter on top and it's just all kinds of cute. It's one of my favorites from Orly!

I got Zoya Skylar! This polish has been a huge lemming of mine, and I finally got it! I grabbed it up with the gift box thingy along with Blaze and Aurora. I haven't done a mani with it yet, because THIS happened..

Hit Polish minis. They're unbearably cute and ALL THE GLITTER. I need more! I need help because I already bought more! (From L to R: Sunset Beach, Painted Desert, Light Show and Party in my Pocket).

So then I slapped Hit Polish Sunset Beach on top of Zoya Blaze. I've never worn red nail polish before, no lie. I just never liked the color. But now... holy amazeballs I'm sold.

Favorite manicure yet. Thanks for reading, guys! ^-^/ Let me know if you have any fun combinations I should try with the new glittery polishes I got!
